Geeta Samota, an official of Central Industrial Security Force, on Saturday became the “fastest Indian” to summit two peaks in Africa and Russia.
Indian High Commissioner to Tanzania Binaya Pradhan congratulated Geeta on Twitter.
“Congratulations to @geeta_samota for a successful summit of #MountKilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa; earned the title of Fastest Indian to do Dual Summit (Mt Elbrus on 13 Aug & Mt Kilimanjaro today),” Pradhan said in a tweet.
While Mt Elbrus (5,642 metres) is in Russia, the Kilimanjaro peak (5,895 metres) is located in Tanzania and is Africa’s highest peak.
Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest free mountain in the world and has three volcanic cones. Earlier, a nine-year-old girl from Andhra Pradesh, Ritvika had also climbed this mountain. Ritvika is the youngest Asian girl to climb Kilimanjaro. Kilimanjaro Peak is considered to be the fourth most important place on Earth.
After the feat, Geeta said, “believe in yourself and let the world mark your achievements”.
