Meet the 82-yr-old, who will carry 60 years of history to Space on Blue Origin Flight today
After six decades of service as an astronaut, 82-year-old Wally Funk will finally be flying to space today.
Funk is one among the three, who will be accompanying Jeff Bezos to the space on the first crewed flight of his space tourism firm Blue Origin.
Funk will be the oldest ever to have flown to space.
With an excellent career record, Funk has donned many hats. Funk was the first female air safety investigator for the NTSB, the first civilian flight instructor and first female Federal Aviation Agency Inspector.
Her dream of being an astronaut was shattered after she was denied the job in 1960 only on gender grounds. Today, in July 2021 she is all set to fulfill her longing desire to fly to space.
Welcome aboard, Wally. Here’s the moment Jeff Bezos asked Wally Funk to join our first human flight on July 20 as our honored guest. https://t.co/ESBJ7bxErK
